Phu Nan Coffee

น่าน เมืองแห่งวัฒนธรรม เกษตรกรรมยั่งยืน เป็นจังหวัดต้นน้ำที่อุดมไปด้วยธรรมชาติและหุบเขาซึ่งหล่อเลี้ยงชีวิตผู้คน ปัจจุบันขึ้นชื่อว่าเป็นเมืองเก่าที่มีชีวิตแห่งล้านนา ประชากรในจังหวัดน่านมาจากชาติพันธุ์ต่างๆและชนพื้นเมือง เช่น ไทลื้อ ลัวะ ขมุ ม้ง เย้า ทำให้น่านเป็นเมืองที่มีความหลากหลายทางประเพณีและวัฒนธรรม ผู้คนจำนวนมากจึงอยากเดินทางไปสัมผัสเสน่ห์ท้องถิ่นเมืองน่านให้ได้สักครั้ง

ในปี พ.ศ. 2549 ได้เกิดน้ำท่วมใหญ่ขึ้นในจังหวัดน่าน สร้างความเสียหายอย่างร้ายแรงต่อชีวิตและทรัพย์สินของผู้คนใน จ.น่าน ประชาชนจำนวนมากไร้ที่อยู่อาศัย ที่ดินทำกินและพืชผลต่างๆถูกทำลายซึ่งเป็นผลมาจากการตัดไม้ทำลายป่าเพื่อทำไร่เลื่อนลอย เช่น การปลูกข้าวโพด ปลูกขิง ในพื้นที่ภูเขาที่เป็นป่าต้นน้ำ

เมล็ดกาแฟภูน่านเป็นเมล็ดกาแฟสายพันธุ์อาราบิก้าซึ่งปลูกอยู่ภายใต้ร่มเงาของต้นไม้ที่ความสูงกว่า 1,600 เมตรจากระดับน้ำทะเลบนดอยมณีพฤกษ์ อ.ทุ่งช้าง จ.น่าน ด้วยสภาพดินและภูมิอากาศที่เหมาะสม ภูน่านจึงเป็นกาแฟบริสุทธิ์ที่มาจากป่า มีรสชาติและกลิ่นหอมติดลิ้นติดคอซึ่งเป็นจุดเด่นของเมล็ดกาแฟภูน่านนอกจากนี้ภูน่านยังส่งเสริมให้ชาวเขาในพื้นที่มีอาชีพปลูกกาแฟแทนการทำไร่เลื่อนลอยตามแนวพระราชดำริเพื่อแก้ปัญหาและเร่งฟื้นฟูป่าต้นน้ำลำธารด้วยรูปแบบและวิธีการผสมผสาน ซึ่งการดื่มกาแฟภูน่านเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการช่วยอนุรักษ์ป่าต้นน้ำและสนับสนุนอาชีพเกษตรกรรมแบบยั่งยืนให้แก่ชาวเขาและเกษตรกร

“Nan”, the vibrant old city of Lan Na, located north of Thailand and a remote province that borders Laos, is remarkable with local culture and indigenous agricultural heritage. It is rich in nature and is splendidly formed by mountains and rivers. Its diverse population comprises of a variety of local ethnic groups such as Tai Lu, Khmu, Lua, Hmong, and Yao. Without doubt, “Nan” is a heavenly historical and cultural crossroad that seemingly always attracts travelers to come visit at least once.

In 2006, severe flooding occurred in Nan and was considered one of the most destructive floods in its history. The flood put more than half of the province under water and caused huge damages to homes, businesses and its environment. This disastrous flooding was a result of deforestation from mountain farming in Nan.

Phu Nan coffee is a fresh-brewed premium Arabica of which the beans are grown in the shade at a height of 1,600 meters by local hill tribes on Doi Maneepruek (Maneepreuk Mountain) in Tungchang, Nan. Due to the perfect climate condition and soil, Phu Nan has become a high-quality coffee bean that is distinguished by its signature aromatic taste and flavor.
Also, Phu Nan keeps strategically stabilizing the hill tribes’ income in ways that help conserve local nature. This responds to the royal concepts of integrated farming that is environmentally friendly. Every sip of Phu Nan coffee is part of reducing deforestation and supporting sustainable living of so many lives.
